**As an ER Physician who has been using the best most expensive otoscopes during my career, I want parents to know that young children and infants can sometimes have an impossible-to-see eardrum because of the small size of the ear canal and debris that can fill the ear canal. Learning to do an ear exam is a LEARNING process. Always begin your practice with adult ears that have larger adult size ear canals and then move down to children and infants. Be sure to use the web link we provide on your instruction sheet for guidance and more detailed color images of ears and ear pathology in your learning process. It takes time and practice leaning to do a good exam.
